FlashLube

The FlashLube a valve protecting Additivum which replaces additiva in petrol. It was developed as lead replacement and later successful applied also for gas driven engines. The
FlashLube builds a protection film on the exhaust valve seats. It protects the seats against point-welding with valves (and consequent tearing off) and improves heat transport from valves to the cylinder head. Hereby are the seats protected against excessive wear.

The disadvantage of the vacuum controlled mettering of the FlashLube is its reversed characteristics. The strong unterpressure in the intake manifold during idle run causes overdosing. At the full load there is no vacuum and therefore no FlashLube commes (and in this case it is of maximum importance). Therefore in January 2008 I built an electronic metering device. The petrol injection time is measured and the ATMEGA8 calculates the FlashLube quantity. The FlashLube is injected in means of small mettering pump with displacement of 33 mm^3.

After apx. 20 000 km of LPG run I realized that the first Cylinder was getting too few FlashLube (Experience). Before making a decision how to solve the problem of wear-off of the valve seats I changed the position of the FlashLube injector and will observe whether the valve seat recission goes further or not.

Remark: The injection of the FlashLube in the front of the throttle did not approve - the Additivum was running out of the throttle casing, probably along the throttle axis. I tried this arrangement during the development of the FlashLube electronics.


The
FlashLube is stored in a 400 ml container and metered into the intake manifold. The container is fitted onto the vaporizer clamp.

New FlashLube injector is integrated into the pressure-balancing pipe (between the point directly below the throttle and the valve cover). The red silicone hose leads the FlashLube apx. 22 mm below the hole in the throttle casing. Therefore the additivum will not be into the balancing air stream injected (otherwise a dose injected just after the pressing the accelerator could run to the camschafts).
